Jacques Chouinard is an Albuquerque native who graduated summa cum laude from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2021. While in law school, Jacques was a staff editor for the New Mexico Law Review and participated in the American Bar Association’s National Appellate Advocacy Competition. He received the Helen S. Carter Prize for Outstanding Legal Writing, the Jerrod L. Walden Memorial Award, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.

After graduating, Jacques worked as a judicial clerk for Judge Megan P. Duffy on the New Mexico Court of Appeals. He then joined the real estate practice of a large Albuquerque law firm where he litigated condemnation matters, easement disputes, and land use cases in trial and appellate courts and before administrative bodies. He also worked on complex industrial development projects and commercial transactions. In 2024, Jacques left private practice to serve as a term law clerk for District Judge Matthew L. Garcia in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico. Before becoming a lawyer, Jacques worked as a paramedic.
